For the horsey guests, we like to offer the the option to spend time with our horses, practice grooming, and learn some horsemanship skills on the ground.
OUR JOURNEY
The way of Kato En
Our story began in winter of 2022, when a hopeful couple moved their young family to “the middle of nowhere” NY. Sensible people would have waited to settle in before getting into homesteading. Us? We dove head first and didn’t look back. By Spring we had acquired our first horses and cashmere goats. Without a barn, minimal fencing, and little infrastructure, we had to do things a bit differently than most.
Despite the challenging winters, our animals live well outside 24/7/365 with rudimentary shelter. We provide each animal with Friends, Forage, and Freedom. It is important to us that everyone on this farm has at least one companion of its kind as well as space to move around, a good forage-based diet, and enrichment.
