Versatile & Resilient.
Cashmere goats for fiber, meat, milk, and more.
Here at Kato En Farm we raise North American Cashmere goats and Kiko goats.
When we first started our farm, we had our little family and a dream to build a life that is different from what mainstream society had to offer. At the start we had no farming experience, no barn, no fencing for animals, and a house that was barely habitable. Still, we wanted the challenge and we needed a productive livestock animal that would contribute financially to our goals. We landed on Cashmere goats because they are low maintenance and give our family multiple products in the form of luxurious cashmere fiber, quality meat, milk, and brush control. They are also intelligent, personable animals that are enjoyable to live with.
Unlike high-maintenance fiber breeds that require extensive care or shearing, Cashmere goats naturally shed their soft undercoat each spring, making fiber harvest simple and economic. Later on we added a handful of registered Kikos because they are also resilient and slightly bigger than our cashmere goats.
What we offer
-
Our foundation Cashmere and Kiko goat herd is comprised of high-quality goats from over a dozen reputable farms across the country.
We spot test our breeding stock yearly for CAE/CL/Johnes.
-
Our Cashmere goats are proven cashmere producers that have passed rigorous fiber evaluations. Most of our herd produce high quality cashmere between 13-16 microns.
-
Every year we set aside a portion of goats to be raised for meat. We offer cuts of meat from a USDA processor and we sell live meat goats on farm.
